Copyright Statement:
The Blissymbolics Communication International Authorized Vocabulary (BCI-AV) and all Blissymbol resources based on the BCI-AV, are made available for use and distribution by others under the Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0 licence. You can use Blissymbols in any project or product, commercial or otherwise as long as any distribution gives BCI clear attribution.
Unlike other AAC symbols sets, Blissymbolics is based on a fixed character set. The Bliss character set consists of unique graphic symbols which can be sequenced into Bliss-words (a Bliss-word is defined as a sequence of one or more Bliss-characters). The BCI Authorised Vocabulary (AV) is a listing of all Bliss-words, their derivation, English gloss (concept word) and translation into several languages, e.g. Afrikaans, Dutch, German, Finnish, Norwegian and Swedish. The Bliss character set and AV is maintained by BCI. Unauthorised words should not be used in published materials without identifying them as personally created Bliss-words through applying "combine indicators" or an explanatory note. However, Suggestions for new Bliss words can be submitted to BCI for authorisation as additions to the Authorised Vocabulary (www.blissymbolics.org).
Blissymbolics Communication International (BCI) owns the copyright for the use of Blissymbolics worldwide. The Blissymbol graphic communication system was originally copyrighted by © C.K. Bliss 1949, and the copyright was transferred to and has been maintained by Blissymbolics Communication International (BCI) (1975-1982-2010).
Any use of Blissymbolics must be distributed with the same Creative Commons BY-SA 4.0 licence. The author (BCI), the owner (BCI), their origin (Blissymbolics), and the license under which is distributed (Creative Commons License BY-SA) must be cited.
